About Breed
Where to begin with? What's so special about this naked cat? (Exept for being naked of course)
Everything. Literally.
The only thing that is the same with other cats is their Purring device; although sphinxes seem to have a perpetum mobile upgraded model.
The "character", "breed", "breed_character" is unique. Not a dog yet, but already not a cat.
The lack of hair may give you the impression, that sphinxes are fragile and gentle creatures. It is not exactly so. They are active brave and athletic. They enjoy climbing running and playing. Of course they are more sensitive to cold temperatures. Draughts winds and dampness are highly not recommended!
But they are confident, fearless, strong and curious.
Their appetite is amazing! Due to the high metabolism they eat twice as much as any other cat. And are not picky at all. Their motto is: whatever you give us- we eat!!! (That is why I insist on super premium quality food.)
A cucumber, watermelon, apple or even lettuce will be swallowed gladly. Even an orange peel will get chewed just out of curiosity.
At the breed "standard" you will find only the naked : facts, but it will rarely manage to explain one who never held a sphinx in his hands- What this cat feels like?
At the show, the question- can I touch it? - Sounds more, than even a question- how much does this cat costs. Of course the sphinx is astonishing to the touch. As an expensive suede... only hot and alive.
Big ears. Large widely placed eyes, with clever and brave expression straight into the depths of your sole. They will never look away out of fear or lack of confidence only if attracted to a new interest.
Long tail, sculptured head, strong solid body and long athletic legs with small and elegant paws...
But the most important is harmony. Harmony of all the elements- the look, the character the behavior- the all together is important, not separated elements, but the whole cat itself.
And sphinx never leaves anyone untouched.
You may love and admire him. Or you may be disgusted. But you can never stay numb to him.
